Batch #66: Chaparro - Little Frame, Big Heart

Batch #66: Chaparro - Little Frame, Big Heart

The Pour Over Story

I created the Chaparro blend for one reason—to honor a man who taught me one of life’s simplest but hardest lessons: just show up.

Chaparro wasn’t a big guy—in fact, he was kinda small. But the way he carried himself, you noticed. His wired looking eyes. The way his hands looked like they’d been through a lifetime of work. A lot of people would see him and coming and might even feel the need to cross the street because of the way he looked. I saw him as someone who showed up, no matter what life threw at him.

He was one of my dad’s most loyal gardeners, but to me, he was much more than that. Sometimes my babysitter. Sometimes my friend. Sometimes, without saying a word about it, a provider.

Life didn’t deal him an easy hand—drugs, homelessness, nights and years that could’ve crushed anyone. But you wouldn’t know it by looking at him. He didn’t carry his struggles like a badge. He carried a shovel, a rake, and a work ethic that didn’t quit.

My dad was tough on him. Real tough. Most people didn’t understand it. But my dad knew Chaparro needed someone to keep him moving forward, to make sure he never slipped back. And Chaparro? He took it. Every time.

This blend is for him—for the reminder that you don’t have to be the biggest, the strongest, or the loudest to make an impact. You just have to keep showing up.

The Steps

  • Stop making the mountain bigger in your head. Most of the weight is mental.

  • Take the first step. Don’t wait for perfect timing—it doesn’t exist.

  • Stack small wins. Little by little, they turn into something real.

  • Hold yourself accountable. Or find someone who will.

  • Show up, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.

The No Judgment Takeaway

Small doesn’t mean weak. Showing up is half the battle—and most people quit before they even try. Be the one who takes the step. Even if it’s small. Even if it’s messy. Because progress doesn’t care how pretty it looks—it just needs you to start.

Line to remember: Show up anyway.
